About

The Sonadow Tarot Project aims to create a collaborative Sonadow-themed digital Tarot deck. The deck will consist of 22 Major Arcana, 16 Court, and 40 Minor Arcana cards. It will be made available for free as a zine collecting the cards, a description of their meaning, and an artist statement. There will also be a high resolution PDF for people who want to get the deck printed.

Head mod — Art & Graphics
Helo, I’m ri! :] I was into Sonic as a kid but forgot about it for a few years… After watching Sonic Prime and the third movie, the sonadow got me good. I’ve always wanted to create a full deck of Tarot cards, so what better subject than my favourite hogs? If it’s art or design, I’m your guy 👍

Head mod — Logistics & Writing
Hiya! You can call me Kat or Hob. I’ve been casually into the Sonic franchise for a few years now, but after watching Sonic Prime in 2024 I fell head-first into obsession. My interest in Tarot goes back a little further; I got my first deck when I was twelve, as a gift from an aunt, who also taught me how to read the cards. I’m a writer, so anything that requires words is my purview, along with some of the logistics stuff.

FAQ

Are you planning on making a physical deck?
We’ve looked into it, but unfortunately—much as we would love to be able to do it—a physical deck is just not feasible. The print run required to obtain a decent price is larger than we’d realistically expect to be able to sell, meaning the price of the deck would need to be higher than we’d be comfortable charging just to break even. On top of that, the current state of international shipping is a bit of a mess, making the entire thing much more trouble than it’s worth. We are hoping to be able to provide people with high resolution PDFs, so anybody interested will be able to get their own deck printed—and since we’re not printing a deck, we’ll be able to provide you with those PDFs for free!
